The problem with all these stories is that they achieve nothing. They simply make us shake our head in dismay and then do nothing about it.

Until we start taking things to a different level, Somare and his mob (and all the other corrupt politicians) will just sit back and laugh at the inability of us, the supposed educated elite, to do a damn thing about all the injustice and wrongs that we see in our country.

Isn't it odd that in other countries, people have no problem rising up when they're placed in the same situation but we do absolutely nothing but publish yet another story about unethical behaviour and complain bitterly about what we read?

An excellent piece Andrew!

The ability of M. Somare to make a mockery of our judicial system time and time again is what irks me the most.

There is no rule of law when it comes to M. Somare. No one is higher than the Constitution or bigger than the Office of the People - except M. Somare. How the Independent State of PNG developed to be in such a decayed state of democratic misery I do not know - but a big chunk of that responsibility must lie with our leaders.

What is a country when the corridors of power slobber all over and toy around with the Judiciary like a dog with a ball?

Does M. Somare remember the days when he ate bananas for breakfast with a cup of tea while playing in the dirt? Because 85% of our people still do that.
